Artists Statement
I have always been interested in what meaning, what indicators found images can carry. The images I am trying to make are psycho-emotional, dreamlike and distorted. I am drawn to a particular subject matter for what it seems to say to me, and how I can think about it as a physically made painting - actually putting paint down.
My work touches on universal themes: alienation, individual will, the natural environment and the passage of time. Many of the paintings are worked from web surveillance camera images bringing a peculiar sense of remove to the work. It is my hope that the paintings capture the sense of beauty, endurance and resignation that mimics my own vision of life.
